Hunger Walkathon West CROP WALK

SEPTEMBER 2010 UPDATE:  Great news!  As of 9/9/10 the 27th Annual Hunger Walkathon West Crop Walk has raised $75,021.  As a walker for our Meeting, Valerie L. raised a whopping $1,170!  We all know how much it means to the many needy people around the world and in our local communities who benefit from these gifts.  THANKS, VALERIE!  Maybe next year we can have more walkers and raise even more money:  environmental catastrophes, violent conflicts, and poor economies insure the needs will again be intense.  Mark your calendars for the next Crop Walk, which will happen on May 1, 2011.

Have you ever had to walk at least a mile to get water for you or your family?  We walk because they walk.

Hunger Walkathon West CROP WALK is a community effort of more than 30 congregations, schools & organizations to help hungry people in our community & throughout the world.

The 2010 Walk will be held on Sunday, May 2nd starting at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake Street, Oak Park.

Registration will begin at 1:15PM and the step off time is 2PM.

In 2009 $66,108 was raised and $16,475 distributed to local agencies.
Thank You!

Fund Destinations:

Twenty-five percent of the funds raised by the WALK help locally by supporting Cluster Tutoring Program, Columbus Park Food Pantry, Forest Park Food Pantry, Oak Park/River Forest Food Pantry, Oak Park River Forest Walk-In Ministry, Pine Avenue Food Pantry, Proviso Food Pantry, Vital Bridges, St Eulalia Food Pantry West Suburban PADS.

Seventy-five percent is used by Church World Service (CWS) for disaster relief, self-help development projects & food in more than eighty impoverished countries.

Please Remember...

One-hundred percent of the money raised by walkers goes to Church World Service (CWS) & local agencies to alleviate hunger. Business sponsors provide funds to cover all administrative costs with the excess sponsor money going directly for hunger relief.
