from the Illinois Yearly Meeting Site Envisioning Committee
9 November 2010
Request for Guidelines/Ideas/Recommendations from Committees, Groups and Monthly Meetings in Illinois Yearly Meeting as we create a Plan for the Campus near McNabb:
With the recent purchase of new property and the continuing work to maintain and develop better facilities at our Meetinghouse site near McNabb, Illinois the Site Envisioning Committee proposed and the Yearly Meeting decided that this year (and possibly the next) should be devoted to creating an overall plan for the site to guide our future decisions. In order to do this job well we need to gain considered input from the whole of the Yearly Meeting community. As one of the ways to obtain this information the Site Envisioning Committee is requesting that other ILYM Committees and Monthly Meetings each develop and create a document that can present ideas, priorities, recommendations, cautions and advice from their perspective about how the property should be planned, developed and managed. Following are some simple Queries that might help to move the discussion:
What vision do you have for the future of the site of IYM near McNabb?
What concerns come up?
What features, facilities are important?
What ideas are important?
What barriers are in the way?
How can the Quaker Testimonies of Peace, Equality, Integrity, Community, Simplicity and Service be represented and guide us?
